Taken a while to put this one up but apart from the weather, which included some torrential rain, I rather enjoyed the ride and might well want to do it again. I would, however, rethink the run in to Merrow to avoid the dual carriageway. To be honest part of the reason I enjoyed the ride was that it took me past a number of childhood landmarks: one of the churches where my father was the minister as well as our old home in Merrow. This may undermine its interest and recommendability to anybody else!
Route was a bit ‘organic’. I loosely planned the first part using the Transport for London cycle route planner (selecting ‘Epsom High Street’ as my destination) and then looked for road signs to places I remembered as being in the right general direction for Guildford!
Refreshments
Waited until Guildford to eat at Pizza Express (after changing into dry clothes in their toilet) before heading off to the birthday bash at a local pub
